Human-Centric Design: Learning from Biology, Advancing through Engineering

With advances in medical technology, human life expectancy has increased significantly, and we are now entering the era of the “100-year lifespan.” However, there still remains a considerable gap between healthy life expectancy—the period of life one can live in good health without limitations—and the average life expectancy. How science and technology can bridge this gap is a pressing question of our time. At the Hijikata Group, Institute of Science Tokyo, we are tackling this challenge through mechanical engineering, with a particular focus on engineering technologies based on electromagnetics.
